FEW WORDS ON GRADING EARLY AMERICAN COPPER COINS
Early
American copper (EAC) coins require specialized grading. “Copper
Quotes by Robinson” (various editions) explains this
concept in a straightforward manner. The secret to understanding
the concept and, thus, learning how to properly grade copper

EAC grading
is comprised of a sharpness grade, a net
grade, and a description of the condition
of a particular coin.
•
The sharpness grade indicates the amount
of wear on the coin.
• The net grade reflects any problems
with the coin and an explanation of those problems.
• The condition of the coin is shown
